ATELIER WEST STUDIOS offers printmaking instruction for high school art teachers. The studio has a portable printing press and is willing to travel to a any location to offer printmaking instruction which is
suitable for teachers to use in a school setting. The workshop instruction is geared to situations in the classroom that will enable a high school art teacher to offer printmaking to their classroom students without
the use of solvents or hazardous materials. Although some printmaking mediums would require the use of a printing press, ATELIER WEST is able to offer instruction in relief and monotype printing, which can
be done by hand. Audrey Feltham, principal owner and operator of Atelier West, is also a printmaker who incorporates the use of textile into her art practise, and is knowledgeable about the printing of fabric. Instruction in this area allows the high school art teacher the ability to transfer this knowledge to fibre arts and offers another range of mark making in this area of study. Interested classroom instructors should consider that
the studio would require a minimum of 10 to conduct a workshop, and a maximum of 15 participants. Workshop instruction would need to be carried out over a 2 day instruction session, each session beginning at
9:00 a.m., and ending at 4:00 p.m. This allows for teachers to experience hands-on the process and clarify problem solving. Cost of the workshop is $800.00 instructional fee for the 2 days, and mileage payable
at the government reimbursement rate of $.35/km., as well as a $30.00 per diem food allowance and accommodation fee paid. The artist is amenable to staying with a workshop participant if that is required.
Atelier West provides inks for the workshop, but printing paper and printing matrix (i.e., linoleum, safety-kut blocks, metal plate, collograph materials) must be supplied by the workshop participants. ATELIER
WEST is amenable to purchasing these supplies and the workshop participants then reimbursing Atelier West.
