ACI Election Button-Hole Kit
April 5, 2011
Here we are again involved in a federal election. Many political observers believe the “culture vote” seriously impacted the last election, costing the Conservative government it’s much sought after majority. If you’ll recall, there were deep cuts to export programs and a general hostility towards the cultural industries (pitting so-called “average Canadian” against those working in the arts). This was a wake-up call for our sector, and though we responded well, we can act even more effectively if we prepare in a coordinated fashion.
So this time, ACI wants to help you ask pointed, coordinated questions, of all candidates, about party platforms and promises pertaining to the culture sector.
To that end, please download a pdf of the Button-Hole postcard, containing a series of “button-hole” questions you can trot out when you’ve got your candidate’s undivided attention on your doorstep, at your events, or on the street.
