    Amy House’s acting career encompasses such roles as: The Hag in Gordon Pinsent’s Corner Green, Rose in Les Belles Soeurs, the title role in Antoinne Maillet’s one-woman show La Sagouine, and, Shirley in The Ship’s Company Theatre’s production of The American’s Are Coming. Ms. House has also played principal roles several times in Eve Ensler’s Obie-award-winning The Vagina Monologues. In addition to her talents as a dramatic actress she remains a tour-de-force as an acclaimed comedienne with an irrepressible fondness for improvisation. Ms. House has created several one-woman shows including: The Seven Faces of Amy (with Maxim Mazumdar), ’Tis Not Human, her children’s show To Be What You Want To Be, most recently Scratch and Pull; as well as the two-handers A Tidy Package and One Unforgettable Night with Two Unforgettable Dames with long-time writing/performing partner Berni Stapleton. Amy House’s name is now synonymous with Catherine Banks’ one-woman show Bitter Rose, having played the title role in four separate productions, including for BRAVO’s Singular Series. Most recently she starred in sold out productions of No Mummers Allowed In and High Steel at the LSPU Hall in St. John’s. This is Ms. House’s fifth season as Artistic Animateur for the Resource Centre for the Arts in St. John’s NL.

    Her new one-woman show Scratch and Pull toured the theatre festival circuit of the province in the summer of 2008, including the Stephenville Theatre Festival on July 29th.

    Amy is the Artistic Animateur at the Resource Centre for the Arts at the LSPU Hall in St. John’s. She is also the President of ACTRA NL branch, and the President of ACI NL, and sits on many provincial arts and culture committees including the Status of the Artist.
