Bio
The drive of The New Curtain Theatre Company has been behind its mandate of bringing to the Clarenville area the formalization and establishment of a full-fledged professional theatre company that would ground itself as an anchor within the town and the region, on a year round basis. NCTC was always meant to be an institution for the immediate resident community, as well as the eastern region of the province, with the hope of instigating the creation of many related offshoots. The company’s primary mandate is:
"to bring to the local stage the production of acclaimed works of a classical and contemporary repertoire (with a concentration on Canadian works) for the entertainment of our resident population thus providing the groundwork on which to build a strong regional arts centre similar to other provincial and national counterparts.”
The primary objective of NCTC is to expose and bring to the Clarenville area "theatre from around the world". As well, it will consist of an expansive vision that will provide a stage for the other facets of the arts in the form of recitals, musical theatre, classical/contemporary music, and community liaison theatre projects. Through these inclusions we anticipate seeing a greater influx of visitors to the region in the non-tourist times of the year as well as providing the basis and infrastructure for the burgeoning growth of the Clarenville area in the coming years.
